Remember

Remember
to keep the Sabbath holy

Kufr Qaddoum:
A ritual of resistance
that we hope will one day end,
so that the day of prayer rituals
can resume undisturbed...

These photos were taken the Friday after promised negotiations to open a closed main road to the village. The road was closed because of the illegal settlers living across the valley (the red-roofed homes seen in the background of the burning tire photos). Every week, after Friday prayers (their day off), many of the villagers march to have the road opened.  In part they are marching simply to have a main road that they need opened for direct access to the main city that it leads to, but also the greater system of apartheid injustice.

We join in solidarity, and witness to the imbalance of power that is stripped from them.

We join in solidarity, and witness the power that the Palestinians still show, despite what has been taken from them over the decades.
